Understanding the Three Doshas

Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—the three doshas—are central to Ayurveda, guiding personalized health practices and lifestyle choices.

In Ayurveda, the three doshas represent unique energies in the body:

  • Vata Dosha – air and space : governs movement and communication
  • Pitta Dosha – fire and water : controls digestion and metabolism
  • Kapha Dosha – earth and water : provides stability and structure

Every individual has a specific combination of these doshas, which forms their Prakriti (constitution). Understanding your dosha helps choosing the right diet, exercise, and daily habits to maintain balance. When the doshas are disturbed, physical or mental issues may arise.
